My Local Solicitor (MLS) is delighted to announced a new appointment: Julia Ustinovskaya, who will be specialising in Business and Commercial, Property and Litigation Law.
Formerly of Smart Property Legal, Julia has gained vast career experience in her homeland of Russia, which after nine years she has honed here in the UK, qualifying as a solicitor at The City Law School last year.
Based in London, she is excited to get started with MLS bringing her skills and experience to new clients in need of advice on business and commercial matters.
“I truly enjoy solving problems,” she said. “And seeing my clients receive the solution they’re dreaming of.”
The married mother-of-four qualified at the Russia State Social University and dabbled in finance before settling into her legal career: “I completed a course at the Financial University under the Government of Russian Federation,” she says. “And I’ve discovered later that this course has really helped me when advising on business matters, as another string to my bow.”
Initially she worked as an Attorney Assistant, before being admitted to the Advocates Chamber in Moscow in 2000.
“Here I gained fantastic experience managing Russian civil law cases, including family and inheritance law; providing legal assistance in real estate deals and immigration cases in Russia, the UK and wider Europe; as well as producing contracts and agreements,” she remembers.
This all preceded a move to the UK in 2013 where Julia began work as a paralegal. Her career highlight came six years later when, “I helped a big group of foreign investors to recover their deposits in 2019 after they had lost all hope. It felt really great to bring my experience to the table and ensure my clients a result they’d not thought was possible.”
She hopes to bring this experience to her new role with MLS, as well as supporting businesses as they seek to find new ways forward post-Covid-19.
“Many small businesses did not survive the last year, however, commercial advice is still in high demand,” says Julia. “But realistically, nothing changes; people continue to do business together, enter into partnership agreements, argue and quarrel in the process of their cooperation and try to find a way out with a lawyer’s assistance when they fail to communicate between themselves. And that’s where I know my skills can come in, providing a legal partner who has solutions ready.”
When she’s not working Julia loves to recharge her batteries by playing her beloved violin, and when travelling allows, heading to the slopes for skiing.
